Last week we listed a few reasons why we're big fans of winter weddings (if you missed the post you can check it out here). But we're also big fans of holiday events in general and have been especially inspired by some of the new trends out there this season. So today we wanted to share a few of our favorite things with you that you can incorporate into either your winter wedding or holiday event! Plus we've included links to some of our favorite items from each category that you can purchase!
FAVORITE MATERIAL- VELVET
We are starting to see velvet everywhere in events from attire (gowns, shoes, hair bows, ties) to tablecloths and napkins, to lounge furniture, bouquet ties, and invitation or menu accents. AND WE LOVE IT. Conveniently we personally think it looks best in burgundy and emerald green shades which just so happens to be perfect for the holidays. It's such a luxurious material and adds instant glamour.
Buffalo check is a more modern take on a classic plaid pattern and is currently showing up a lot in home decor textiles. We love this pattern as a table runner or napkins. If you're a little hesitant about going with the red version, you can use a black and white buffalo check with some garland and vintage green glassware to have a more understand but really beautiful holiday look.
Most people have a set of basic white plates and if not, it is so easy to find some simple and pretty ones. Pairing those with gold chargers or flatware and using silver decor or mercury votives in your centerpiece absolutely reads sophisticated holiday. A lot of people are still worried when it comes to mixing metals but trust us, it always looks amazing!
This unusual bloom has completely stolen our hearts and screams winter with it's frosty look. Use it for wreaths, put a few stems in simple vases or do a complete table garland with it for a big impact. If you're a winter bride, this is also lovely in bouquets or you can use a few small pieces in your updo.
This translucent paper has such a wintery vibe and it's perfect for a holiday wedding or party invitation. It's often used as an overlay to add an additional layer to an invitation suite but even by itself it looks great! You can also find vellum envelopes and belly bands.
I don't know about all of you but I go into full baking mode around the holidays. I don't think there's a more perfect time of the year to serve up individual cookie skillets. Not only are they delicious but they are just the cutest and are such a fun addition to place settings. You will have some very happy guests with these treats!
So there you have it! We will definitely be incorporating more than one of these into our holiday decor and hopefully we've given you a little bit of inspiration for your festivities! Do you have any current holiday/winter decor obsessions? Let us know in the comments!
