I am so excited to share what I think is one of the most magical Bay Area wedding venues with you today! If you have been dreaming of an all outdoor wedding, dancing under twinkling cafe lights and dining in a grove of tall redwood trees, Saratoga Springs was made for you! When I help couples search for their venue, a typical concern that is mentioned is the drive that guests will have to make. Brides and grooms do not want their guests having a difficult time finding the venue or navigating a treacherous road after having a few drinks. The great thing about Saratoga Springs is that it feels very private and tucked away in the mountains when really it's a quick and easy drive from downtown Saratoga. There are five different spaces that couples can book and really make their own. Longbridge, is the largest with a capacity of 500 and Saratoga Cove is the most intimate, accommodating 50-75 guests. Each of these spaces have the same charming woodsy aesthetic, but all have their own unique features as well. You can get glimpses of the massive arched brick bridge at Longbridge and the wooden footbridge over a trickling creek at Cathedral Grove in our photoshoot images at the end of the post! Two of their super friendly event coordinators, Olivia and Sam, sat down with me to share some more details about Saratoga Springs weddings.
What is the history of Saratoga Springs?
Saratoga Springs has been in the same family since the late 1800s. It used to be the biggest stop on the way from San Jose to the beach since it had a general store (which is still open at the venue). It was later turned into a campground and began hosting picnics, corporate events and offering catering. Weddings began taking place at the property about ten years ago.
What makes Saratoga Springs a unique venue?
It's all inclusive with unlimited house beer and wine included and a self serve bar. It's family owned so it's a very relaxed type of venue.
Can you describe the atmosphere and what types of weddings it lends itself well to?
Saratoga Springs feels like an enchanted forest or fairytale. It's just stunning and very historical. Weddings here typically have a rustic chic or boho vibe.
What are some especially interesting ways you've seen couples utilize or decorate the space?
There were over 200 weddings held at Saratoga Springs last year so there have been a lot of different things that couples have done. There has been a teepee that was set up for a ceremony, chandeliers hung in the trees, gobos on the bridge, henna and caricature artists, and even dunk tanks and beer pong!
Given that it is an all outdoor venue, what is the plan should rain occur on a wedding day?
You can bring in a rental company to tent any of the spaces and Saratoga Springs coordinators can help with measurements and guide you in the right direction.
What do rentals include?
90 minutes of setup (during the first 30 minutes couples take photos in any areas of the property), exclusive use of whichever space you book from 5:30-10:30 pm, 30 minutes for breakdown, a venue coordinator, optional lighting packages, picnic tables for dining, house beer, wine and soda, a one hour rehearsal, parking, insurance, trash, and leaf blowing prior to your event.
Are there any preferred vendors that couples must use if they host their wedding here?
Couples are required to use our catering, photo booth (if they decide to have one) and one of our DJs. Otherwise they can select their other vendors and bring in their own decor.
Can you tell us a bit more about your catering and tastings?
Meals are typically buffet style though plated is an option for an extra charge. The motto here is to "keep it simple." The passed appetizers change seasonally but the entrees generally stay the same. As for tastings, there is a showcase every year that is setup as a mock wedding. All couples who are currently booked for the upcoming year are invited and everyone tries a sampling of the food. Only beer and wine is allowed on site and one beer and two wines are included in the bar package or you can bring your own with a corkage fee.
How far in advance do you recommend couples book their Saratoga Springs wedding?
We are booking into 2019 and 2020 already. We're almost fully booked for 2018 Saturdays so we typically suggest booking 1.5 years to 9 months ahead of time.
